The area that was to become Adams County was part of Arapahoe County from 1858 to 1902 when it was partitioned off and chartered as a separate county.  Named for former governor, Alva Adams, the county celebrated its 100th birthday on November 15, 2002.  The first meeting of the Adams County Commissioners met in Brighton on December 4, 1902.  The county measures 18 miles north-south and 72 miles east-west (see map) --Source: Albin Wagner, Adams County-Crossroads of the West


My name is Carolyn Golowka and I am the county coordinator for Adams County, Colorado. I lived in Colorado for several years but no longer live there. I do visit periodically. I am open to questions about Adams County but since I don't live there, I may have not be able to answer them. I will try.
