Rebecca Romero (Gallegos) Martinez

 1.  Rebecca¹ Romero  (Jose Tranquilino G.^A, Jose Francisco^B, Juan Estevan^C) was born 01 Nov 1900 in Conejos, Colorado, and died 25 Jan 1935 in Alamosa, Colorado.  She married (1) Dionisio Gallegos 12 Nov 1917 in Alamosa, Colorado, son of Donaciano Gallegos and Maria Tranquilina Jaramillo.  Dionisio died October 8, 1919, five months after the birth of their son Juan Rodolfo Gallegos (better known as Johnny). Johnny died on May 11, 1947 on Mother's Day in Carbon, Utah at the age of 27.

She married (2) Antonio Maria Martinez 23 Jun 1922 in Alamosa, Colorado, son of Manuel de Jesus Martin and Maria Nemesia Vigil. 

Rebecca's Obituary was published in The Valley Courier on January 25, 1935 and reads:

Mrs. Rebecca Martinez, wife of Antonio Martinez, railroad worker of this city, died at Lutherin Hospital Friday at 10:20 a.m. shortly after she had given birth to a daughter weighing five pounds and nine ounces.  The baby survived.

Funeral services will be conducted at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and interment will take place in the Spanish cemetery.  The Lorton and Miracle mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Rosary services for the deceased will be conducted at the family residence., 718 Tenth Street at 9:00 a.m.  Mrs. Martinez was 34 at the time of her death.  She was born in Conejos on November 5, 1900 and has made her home in Alamosa for a number of years.  Besides her husband she is survived by five daughters, three brothers, Leandro, Joe and Gumecindo and one sister, Mrs. Vivienta Balerio.
