George R. and Cora (Prever) Bishop, 6 South 48 West

In 1860 Henry County, Illinois, V. Bishop is a coal miner 63, born in Canada, with Deb 47 in Connecticut. Moses is 20, Lydia L. 15, daughter D. 12, son D. J. 9, son A. G. 7, and a one monthe old daughter.

Bill Bishop is in Shelby County, Iowa in 1870, with Anna 58, Dennis 19, and Augusta 17.
Bill Bishop was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 12 August 1867 at Kewanee, Henry, Illinois, by J. D. Jones. He was confirmed by J. D. Jones and J. S. Patterson. He attended the Iowa branches at Harlan and Pleasant Ridge.

Dennis J. Bishop married Delia Comstock on February 1, 1874 in Shelby County, Iowa.

Dennis J. Bishop, 29, born in Illinois, and Adelia Comstock, 27, born in Pennsylvania, had a daughter on August 17, 1880 in Harlan, Shelby County, Iowa.

Adelia's sister might be the Cornelia (Comstock) Aitken 1853-1929 buried in Friend, Nebraska # 84888042.
Another sister might be the Mary (Comstock) Bishop 1846-1915 buried in Grant County, Oklahoma # 88525131.
Mary 34 born in New York, and M.S. Bishop, 40, born in Illinois, are also in Shelby County, Iowa in 1880. Frank is 14, Henry 12, Warren 9, and Mabel 1.

So it appears that two Comstock sisters married two Bishop brothers.

Likely death for Adelia Eliza Bishop is March 1922, with obituaries March 11, 12, and 13 in both Denver newspapers.

George is in Douglas County, Colorado in 1900, born March 1891 in Colorado, with Dennis J. 49 Illinois and Adelia 46 Pennsylvania.

His brother Samuel M. Bishop 1877-1957 is buried in Wheat Ridge, Colorado # 44843289. So is his wife Nettie 1889-1960 # 131708873.

In 1910 Elbert County, Colorado, Dennis is ranching, 57, Emila 55, George 19.

Cora Serena Prever was born October 14, 1897 in Davis County, Iowa to Olvier Prever and Faisy EDell Burkhart.

In 1910 Monroe County, Iowa, Oliver Prever is 38, Fairy D. 34, Charley W. 17, Ruby M. 14, Cora I. 12 and Ira W. 3, all born in Iowa.
Oliver 1872-1933 # 61978256 and Fairy Dell 1875-1959 # 61978240 are buried in Davis County, Iowa.
George claimed a tract in 29, 6S, 48W in 1914.

George, age 26, married Cora I. Prever, age 19, on September 18, 1916 in Kit Carson County.

In 1920 George is a farm laborer in Douglas County, Colorado, with Cora 22, Edna 2, and Dorothy 1.

They're in Sherman County, Kansas in 1925, with the two daughters.
In 1930 Davis County, Iowa, George is farming, 38, born in Colorado, with Cora I. 32 in Iowa. Edna 12 and Dorothea 11 were born in COlorado.

Cora, born October 14, 1897, died at the Iowa State University on August 8, 1934, to be buried in South Cemetery, Bloomfield. Informant was G.R. Bishop of Belknap.
She has a stone in the Bloomfield South Cemetery # 104380081.

George Ross Bishop registered for WWII in Hugo, Colorado, working for BUd Will of Hugo, Colorado. His reference was Mrs. A.E. Swope of Ottumwa, Iowa.

He could be the George Bishop 1891-1972 buried in Hugo, Colorado # 89022520.
Nettie Bishop 1915-1989 # 9118389 is also buried in Hugo. She was born Nettie Combs, married Joseph F. Clayton in 1934, then a Fletcher in 1955, then a Bishop in 1959.

Dorothy Bishop was born November 26, 1918 in Denver to George R. Bishop and Cora I. Prever, as markham in 1941, Sanders in 1946, Wilson in 1952, Williams in 1954, and Winchester in 1970, dying March 21, 1993.
Her son Jack Leroy Markham, born April 19, 1938 in Peoria, died April 2, 2016 in Galveston County, Texas. "Dorothy Hayward, 74, died Sunday, March 21, 1993 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was born November 26, 1918 in Aurora.
She is survived by three sons, Louie Markham and wife, Jack Markham and wife of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Virgil Markham and wife of Bedford, Indiana; brother-in-law Lonnie Swope of Spring Valley, Illinois. Also surviving are several grandchildren, neices, nephew and many friends.
Her husband Howard Hayward died January 1, 1990 in Florence Colorado.
Dorothy worked for many years as Activities Director at Columbine Manor Nursing Home in Salida, Colorado. She was also care giver for elderly people in their homes.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Dorothy at Faith Bible Chapel, 12th and I Street during the Sunday morning worship service, April 18 at 10:30 a.m.  "

Edna L. Swope 1917-1992 # 9676266 and Alonzo E. Swope 1910-2002 # 9676273 are buried in Ottumwa, Iowa.
