Ralph and Lillie (Murphy) Totten , 8 South 49 West

In 1880 Osborne County, Kansas, E.S. Totten is 53, born in New York, Hester 41, Ohio. They have Charles 18, Frank 16, and Ralph 14, all three born in Indiana. On the same page are J.J. Totten and L. L., both 45, with E.M. son 15, B.M daughter 5 and C.C. son 3, both born in Iowa. The next household is E.C. Totten 25 Iowa and Josephine his wife 19, Kansas.

In 1900 Osborne County, Ralph has been married six years to Lillie M. born July 1875 in Iowa. They have Vera V. 5 and Glenn C. 4.

Lillie, per one tree, was the daughter of John Hayes Murphy and Ellen Norris.
" Ellen Minerva E. Norris was born October 13, 1852 at Des Moines County, Iowa. Died at her home near Blackfoot, Idaho January 1, 1919 of heart trouble. The deceased was a true faithful member of the Methodist Church which she joined when quite young. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and was loved by all who knew her. On September 12, 1872 she was united in marriage at her home in Numa, Iowa to John H. Murphy of Burlington, Iowa. To this union were born ten children, four of whom have gone on before. Her husband and three children, J. Elbert, Nellie Roberts, and Brenice G. Queen were at her bedside at the time of her passing. The others, Mrs. Carrie R. Rose, W. Ernest of California and Claude I., of Camp Funiston, Kansas.
In the year 1883 she moved with her husband and family to Osborne County, Kansas where they resided until 1901. They then moved to Sheridan County, Kansas where they lived for fifteen years. They left that place in 1916 for California for her health. In 1917 they located near Blackfoot, Idaho where she resided until her death. "

In 1940 Riverside, California, Ralph is 74, living with son Gerald W. 36 and his wife Mary E. 25, born in Washington. Gerald Jr., 2 and Cecil R. 1 were both born in California.
California Death Index has Ralph, born Sept 28, 1865 in Indiana, mother McCullough, dying Feb 26, 1944 in Los Angeles.

Ralph 1865-1944 is buried in Seibert, # 37921382, with Lillie M. 1873-1916.

"DIED - Totten--In Longmont, Colorado, February 29, 1916, Mrs. Ralph Totten, aged 42 years. Deceased is survived by a husband and two sons, Wayne and Glenn. The remains will be sent to Seibert, Colorado after a short service in the Shaw undertaking parlors, Wednesday.".

Vera Verona Totten 1885-1912 is also buried in Seibert.
Gerald Wayne Totten, born Dec 18, 1903, died August 21, 1982, and is buried in Barstow, California # 44879888, with his wife Esther (Breelove) Totten 1915-1994.
Glynn C. Totten, born Feb 29, 1896, died August 9, 1963 in Kern County, California.
