Evelyn L Kiel, 86, of Fort Collins passed away peacefully surrounded by her family January 14 at Poudre Valley Hospital. Evelyn was born September 28, 1924 in Crook, Colorado to Oliver and Mary (Osborn) Engleman. She graduated from Crook High School and came to Colorado A & M where she majored in Home Economics. She married Johnny Kiel in 1943 in Sterling, Colorado and they had eight children in their 34 year marriage. Evelyn was a home maker, mother and later worked in food service at Poudre R-1 School District. She was an avid volunteer with Camp Fire Girls and loved reading to children at Laurel and Moore Elementary Schools. She loved to travel, attend events of her children and grandchildren and root for her Colorado Rockies. Evelyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Survivors include sons Floyd, Melvin (Sheilah), Ralph (Pearl), Howard ( Deborah), and Leonard (Ronna). Daughters Mary (Joseph Westhoff), Millie (Douglas) Kneeland, and Marilyn (Jerry) Allen, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Those wishing to see Mrs. Kiel may call at the Vessey Chapel on Tuesday from 2 to 5 PM. A funeral service will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Wed. January 19 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brian Bestian officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Colorado on Thursday January 20. |
