Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Platte Woods Methodist Church for Laura Rhetta Babbitt Older, 81, Kansas City, Mo. She died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002. Among survivors is her husband, Everett "Bill" Older, at home; a daughter, Shirley Saving, Kansas City; two sons, Keith Babbitt, Kearney, Neb., and Larry Babbitt, Douglas, Wyo. 3073583102 ; a sister, Callie Young, Kansas City; two brothers, Robert Vaughn, Hiawatha, and Donald Vaughn, Kansas City; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hiawatha Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kan. McGilley Antioch Chapel in Kansas City, Mo., is in charge of Missouri arrangements. Casselman-Meek Funeral Home in Hiawatha is in charge of Kansas arrangements. Laura R. Callie Emma Young, 96, a longtime resident of Pleasant Valley, joined her Lord and Savior, as well as her husband of 68 years, in heaven on February 18, 2016. All services will be Monday, Feb. 22, at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 4330 North Oak Tfwy., Kansas City, MO. Visitation and a reception for friends and family will begin at 1:30 p.m. A funeral celebrating Callie's life will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Glenridge Cemetery, Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to New Hope Church of the Nazarene. Callie was born Aug. 13, 1919, in Haxtun, Colorado, the eldest of five children of Lynn and Sarah Irean (Martin) Vaughn. Along with her parents, Callie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, three brothers, and a sister. She worked all her adult life, most recently for 20 years as a retail clerk for the Jones Store Company. Callie was proud to be a charter member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene for 64 years. Survivors include her children, Janice Chaney (Charles, deceased), Susan Mahoney (Bob), Sonja Farrand (Bob), DeWayne Young (Janice) and Sandy Carlson (Bob); 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, five great- great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. |
Donald R. Vaughn, 74, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011, at North Kansas City Hospital. He was born September 24, 1937, in Nampa, Idaho, the son of Lynn Vaughn and Sarah Irean Martin . On March 14,1959 in Leeton, MO he married Doris Mae Ritter, who surives the home. Mr. Vaughn was a bread route man, worked for Lock Joint Pipe Company, 7Up Bottling Company, and Dodds Trucking as a local driver. He then joined Jones Truck Line where he retired. He served his country in the United States Air Force as a chef. Don was an avid bowler and golfer. For those who knew him he was always watching the ball, and he was a die hard KU Sports Fan. He also loved spending time with his family and helping in anyway possible. Don was a member of Randolph Baptist Church. He was baptised January 21, 1990. He was loved by all his family, and will be dearly missed by all. In addition to his wife Doris, he is survived by a son Phillip L. Vaughn, Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Darenda I. Visitation service will be from 4- 6pm Sunday,December 29, 2013 at DW Newcomer's White Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 11am Monday December 30, 2013 at the Funeral Home. Lynn Robert 'Bob' Vaughn, 84, of Hiawatha died shortly after arrival at Hiawatha Community Hospital, Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2015. Bob was born at McCook, Nebraska, November 10, 1930, one of five children born to Lynn and Sarah Jean Underwood Vaughn. The family moved to Idaho a few years before locating to Brown County where Bob had lived nearly all of his life. Bob and Frances Bindle were married May 23, 1948, at Horton. They were over the road truck drivers for different freight companies for many years before retiring after her death in 2000. A few years after her death, he moved to Maple Grove Senior Apartments to live until moving to Maple Heights Nursing Home recently. Survivors include a son Steven (Janet) Vaughn of Hiawatha; two daughters: Pat (Delbert) Larson of Hiawatha, LaDonna (Stanley) Korthanke of Kearny, Missouri; a daughter in law Karen Vaughn of Nebraska City, Nebraska; a sister Callie Young of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents; son Michael in 2001; a grandson Troy Korthanke in 1980; a sister Laura Babbitt; two brothers: Paul and Donnie. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Friday, November 6, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Greg Pudwill officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha. |
