Joseph Henry Kountz was born on October 12, 1872, at Roca NE, the son of Francis J and Julia Ann Kountz.
He spent his early childhood in NE until 1904, at which time they moved to Forsyth. They made their home there until homesteading near Brockway in 1911, where they have since resided.
Mr Kountz was preceded in death by his wife in November of 1956, and by three daughters and one son.
He is survived by three sons; Jack of Brockway, Ted, Van Norman and Jim of Glasgow; one daughter, Mrs Alfretta Ofstedal of Brusett; 25 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. "

LEROY

In 1909 he was one of the neighbors who found the body of a slain woman, Mrs. Tucker.

" The case of Lee Koontz versus Sam Rice was heard this morning before Judge Landrum. Koontz plead guilty to the charge of assault and battery and was fined twenty-five dollars and costs, which he accordingly paid Tuesday."


November 1911 "It is reported that Lee Koontz had a horse killed by some reckless hunters. People who are so reckless as all that should not hunt if they won't be careful."

Lee is a cattle rancher in Sublette County, Wyoming in 1940, 62 born in Nebraska, living alone.

Dorothy A. Koontz married James Dean Powers in Rich County, Utah. They're in Uinta County, Wyoming in 1920, with William D. 2.
She was born in Sedgwick, Colorado, attending school in Wyoming. Following a divorce, she moved her family to Tiger, Washington in 1993 [should be 1939?[ She worked in the hospital in Ione for several years and then moved to Spokane in 1943. She waorked for White Pine and Sash for 21 years, the first woman to operat the automated saw. In 1976 she moved to Brewster where she worked in the orchards and eventually became the cook in the senior center. She lived the last five years with her son Bill in Ione. She is survived by two sons, William D. of Ione and Robert C. of Superior, Montana, and one sister, Edna Holmquist,Leadpoint, Washington.

Robert Carl Powers was born December 20, 1934 in Portland Oregon to Dean Powers and Dorothy A. Koontz.
He died August 26, 2003.

Sylva Fern FAUGHT (born Koontz in 1921) Edmund was born on March 19 1871, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Amelia was born on January 23 1889, in Clarence, Shelby County, Missouri.
Sylva had 4 siblings: Frank Price Koontz and 3 other siblings. Sylva passed away in 1957, buried in Spokane Valley, Washington.
