Jonathan J. Watts, age 77, born in Perry County, Pennsylvania, died January 27, 1893 in Dexter, Dallas County, Iowa, spouse Mary Rowland.

James might be the farm laborer in 1860 Juniata County, age 22, working for James Knox, 49. Next household is Washington Watts 43 a carpenter with Eleanor 37 and their kids.

The Dexter, Iowa M.E. church was organized August 1869, charter members including J.F. and Mary Watts, Robert J. and Margaret Watts. (Robert is a carpenter, born in England about 1836, with Martha 1838 in Pennsylvania)

Franklin Watts was born May 29, 1874 in Dexter, Iowa to James F. Watts and Mary E. Roland.

In 1879 J. J. is a Dexter town councilman.

In 1880 Dexter, Dallas County, Iowa, James is a furniture dealer born in Pennsylvania, 44, Mary 38, John 6, Virgil 2, and Maurice seven months.

A confusing record is that in the Iowa Armed Forces Grave Registration with a Johnathan J. Watts dying January 27, 1893 in Dallas County, age 77, born in Perry Pennsylvania, spouse Mary Rowland.
This is the Johnathan Watts in the 1885 census, age 51, with Kate 48, Frank 18, Anna 16, all bornin Pennsylvania, Eddie 14 in Illinois, Mattie 9 in Pennsylvania, and Earnest 5.
He died January 27, 1893, age 61, a private in A, 201st Pennsylvania Infantry.

In 1900 Sterling, Mary E. is widowed, born April 1842 in Indiana, with Virgil B. January 1878 Iowa, a civil service messenger. Morris November 1879 is a cattle herder.

Mary claimed a tract in sections 2 and 3, 6N 52W in 1920.


JOHN

Ella McMurray and J. Franklin Watts married in Sedgwick County, Colorado on February 27, 1895.

September 1898 "Miss Lotus, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Watts, left home this morning without the knowledge of her mamma. John Wynkoop found her about a half mile from home on the road running west, and returned her to badly scared relatives."

September 2, 1898 "Mrs. J.F. Watts went to Julesburg last night for a visit with her mother."

December 1898 "Miss Eola McMurray came up from Julesburg this morning for a visit with her sister, Mrs. J. Frank Watts."

Eola M. McMurry married Oscar S. Corpe on February 20, 1899 in Julesburg.


August 4, 1898 "Frank Watts, son-in-law of Mrs. McMurray (mother of the Corpesiblings), was seriously hurt Monday afternoon at Iliff, while roping a horse. When found he was unconscious. How it happened no one knows. He was taken to the camp, Dr. Chipman was called and dressed his injuries. The doctor thinks he will recover soon."

January 1900 "Mrs. E. G. McMurray of Denver is in the city the guest of her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Watts."

March 1900 "Mr. and Mrs. Walter McMurray of Denver are in the city for a visit with Mrs. J. F. Watts and other relatives."

April 20, 1900 "Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Watts this morning, a fine daughter."
In 1900 Logan County, John F. Watts is a cattle raiser, born May 1874 in Iowa, married five years to Ella L. Feb 1876 Missouri. They have Letia M. Feb 1897 and Doris April 1900 both born in Colorado.

In 1910 Sterling, John is a real estate agent, 35, with Ella L. 34, Lotus 13 and Doris 10.

John Franklin Watts claimed four quarters for Stock Raising in sections 3 and 4 in 1919.

In 1920 Denver, F. J. is a real estate agent, 43, Ella 38, Lotus 21 is a stage actress, and Doris is 19.

In 1930 Los Angeles, John 55 and Mary L. 54 are running a hotel.

In 1940 Mary Lee Watts is 64, born in Missouri, running a rest home with daughter Doris Sullivan 40, divorced.

J. Franklin Watts is also in Los Angeles in 1940, no occupation, 65, born in IOwa, with Lillie A. Watts, wife, 43, born in Massachusetts.

"Funeral Services will be conducted today at 3 p.m. for Maryella Lee Watts 81, of 23239 Oxnard St., from the Chapel of the Chimes, Inglewood Park. Interment will be in Inglewood Memorial Park. Pierce Bros. Mortuary is in charge.
Mrs. Watts, who died April 14, was a native of Missouri. She is survived by a daughter. Lotus Dessart; a grand-daughter, three great-great grandchildren; and two sisters."

1952 Los Angeles "Superior Judge John A. Hewicker had ordered Fishman, Eugene Albertini and Mrs. Doris Sullivan, former City Manager of National City, remanded to County Jail pending a hearing Feb. 15 on their applications for probation and a new trial. They were found guilty of conspiring last year to use Mrs. Sullivan's official influence to obtain a zoning variance on property which subsequently doubled in value."

Doris Morris, born April 14, 1901 to father Watts and mother McMurray, died August 1, 1955 in Los Angeles County.

In 1915 Lotus Lee Watts of Sterling is a freshman at the University of Colorado
Lotus Lee Watts married Edward Morris on August 23, 1917 in Denver.
They divorced in Denver on August 16, 1919.

In 1948 Los Angeles County, Lotus H. and Cecil W. Dessart are living at 4517 White Oak Avenue.

Lotus H. Dessart, born Feb 26, 1897 in Colorado, died in Los Angeles County June 13, 1962.

1943 San Bernardino "Details which passenger car owners must follow were outlined by C. W. Dessart, O.P.A. mileage rationing representative."

Cecil W. Dessart 1899-1971 is buried in Reedsport, Oregon # 113185020.

He married Ann Victoria Graney on December 2, 1922 in Washington, D.C.."The wedding of Cecil Wayne Dessart, 1901 Fifteenth street northwest, and Miss Ann V. Graney, 1330 L street northwest, was solemnized Saturday morning at 9:30 in the rectory of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, with the Rev. T. G. Smyth performing the ceremony. Wedding breakfast followed the ceremony at the New Willard Hotel. The room was decorated with chrysanthemums and pink roses. The couple left on a motor trip and are expected to return about December 16. They will reside at the New Willard Hotel upon their return. "

They must have separated, with Anna back in Ohio in 1930, and marrying a Roger Rust.

Oregon death index has Cecil Wayne Dessart born in May 1899, dying August 10, 1971 in Coos County.

ROBERT

Morris Watts married Lida Grace Sherwin on April 29, 1902 in Sterling.

In 1910 Sterling, he's a lumber merchant, 30, with Lyda G. 28 born in Kentucky, and Robert M. . 2.

He's a real estate dealer in 1920 Sterling with Lida SA. 38 and Maxwell 12.

R. Maxwell Watts, 21, married Marye Fulton in Boulder, Colorado on March 17, 1929.

She was in Iliff, Colorado in 1910, with James Fulton, a carpenter, 56 and Irene 32. May is 2.
James Fulton is retired in 1920 Iliff, with Irene, Mary 12 and Julia Mae 4.

Bertie (Baker) (Fulton) Redd, born August 15, 1877, died in Los Angeles County November 30, 1953.

In 1930, a lumber dealer, with Lida, and Maxwell - now married to Marye F. 22, born in WIsconsin.

Robert Morris Watts 1879-1935 is buried in Sterling # 57759106, with Lida S. (Sherwin) Watts # 56626497.

Maxwell R. Watts married Opal L. Porter in Denver on October 16, 1937.
She was Opal White, daughter of James and Myrtle White, born April 21, 1908. They had Robert Morris Watts on August 8, 1937 and adoped a baby Lynda Lee oin August 1947.

In 1940 Pueblo, Colorado, R. Maxwell is a building contractor, 32, with Opal L. 32, and Robert M. 1.

R. Maxwell Watts 1907-1993 is buried in Sterling # 57759120.

So is Robert M. Watts. "Graveside services were held for Robert Morris WSatts w8ll be hel at Riverside Cemetery Thursday. He died June 3, 1987 at LaMesa, California.
He was born August 8, 1937 at Pueblo, the son of Robert M. and Opal L. White Watts, grew up in Pueblo and Denver. Attended the University of Colorado, graduating Cum Laude. He was epmploye ed in sales. He married Sherry Ballon April 28, 1973 in Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, his parents, and a sister Llynda Powell of New York."


Kathleen L. Watts, 92, passed away March 7, 1999. Survived by her daughter, Joan Neibaur of Denver- daughter-in-law, Sherry Watts of San Diego, Calif.-stepdaughter, Lynda Bing Powell of Rochester, N.Y., and Lynda's children, Eleanor and Spencer- nephews, Robert Harris of Melrose Park, Ill., and Lyle(Brenda) Harris of Bristol, Va.- niece, Geri (Bert) Pearson of Elk Grove Village, Ill.- great-nephews, Joseph Harris and Gregory (Tammi) Harris-great-nieces, Tammy Harris, Carol (Bob) Mondl, Michele (Richard) Rosado and Roberta (Tyler) McNeal- and dear friend, Maybell Burnett of Pueblo.

Preceded in death by her husband, R.M. "Max" Watts, a prominent Pueblo developer, on Oct. 29, 1993- stepson, Morris Watts, in 1987- sister, Madolyn Harris-brother, William Byrnes- niece, Lois Collins- and nephew, Michael Harris.
Born Oct. 4, 1906, in Chicago, Illinois.
At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial Mass will be held at 10a.m. Friday, March 12, 1999, at St. Pius X Church, 3130 Morris, with the Rev. Father William Hurley officiating. Interment, Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Colo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the YWCA Shelter through the funeral home.
