[I can't vouch for that, but inheritance tax for him dated 16 Feb. 1925 Logan Co. Colo.] I have his children listed as: 1. Mary E [which you have]; 2.Louisa, b. ca 1873, IL; 3. Louis "Alva", b. 01 Mar 1879, Nebr., d. 22 June 1957, Sterling, Logan Co., CO. on 1930 Census Proctor, Logan Co., CO with his mother. He was single. 4. Franklin William, b. 28 Mar. 1884, Tecumseh, Johnson Co., Nebr.d. 02 Dec 1947, Sterling, Logan Co., Colo. Buried-Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, Co.; married 3 times: [not sure what order]; Nona (?); Fannie Elsie Brewer-Potras (on 1930 Census with Frank W. Sivey, Sioux City, Woodbury Co., IA.) has two Potras children Cecelia age 13, and Jerald, age 11 & by Frank she has 1 child- Juanita Sivey. Fannie is on the 1920 Census Madison Co., Nebr. with Frank H. Potras, age 66 Y and Mary Potras, age 69Y and others, Fannie Potras is age! 23, dau. Cecelia, age 3Y and son Jerald Potras, age 1Y. Franklin Wm. Sivey also married Pearl Ethel Grindle (1884-1970) three of their children were: 1. Goldie Frances Sivey,b.ca 1904, m. Joseph Edgar Stout, b. 12 Jan 1900, Webb City, Jasper Co., MO.; 2. Franklin E. Sivey, b. 06 May 1905, d. 24 Dec 1982, Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebr. He married (1) Lois Cunningham, b. ca 1908, Iowa; He married (2) Mildred Louise McCaffee (1917-1969), she was b. 15 Sep 1917, Maccedonia, IA., d. 03 May 1969, Omaha, Nebr. (In 1925 Sioux City, Iowa, Frank is 41, Fannie, Frank Jr. 20, Helen 17, Cecelia 8, and Gerald 7. Fannie's father was Edgar Bruwer , mother Rosetta Davis.) In 1930 Sioux City, Iowa, Frank W. Sivey is a foundry worker, 45, Fanny 34, both born in Nebraska. Juanita 4 Iowa, Frank E. 24, and his wife Lois 21, and three two Potras grandchildren) (In 1940 Fanny is in Denver, widowed, with Juanita. One source says Juanita married a Larson.) The 5th child of Eli E. Sivey was Alice Sivey - she was born Dec 28, 1888 at Tecumseh, Nebraska to Eli Sivey and Marinda J. Cisco, registered in June 1939 as Alice Sivey McNabb. In 1910 Alice and Edward McNabb are in Lawrence County, South Dakota, where she is a cook in a restaurant, with Hazel 4, John 2, and Edward six months. In 1920 Lawrence County, Edward 45 and Alice 31 have Hazel 13, John 11, Edward 10, and Martha nine months. In 1930 Edwin and Alice are in Fremont County, Colorado, with Martha 10, Maxine 7, and Josephine 6. FindaGrave # 79876968 has a photo of a tombstone, recorded as in Bridgeport, Nebraska, but the bio says she's buried in Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, buried July 3, 1940 - must be confusing her with her grandmother.... FindaGrave # 35705703 has Edwin dying January 26, 1932, buried in Canon City, Colorado. One tree has Hazel Emma (McNabb) Chattin born Oct 4, 1906, dying Sept 13, 1992. Martha Alta (McNabb) Garton born April 20, 1919 in South Dakota, Maxine (McNabb) Zacanti born Sept 27, 1921 in South Dakota, daying 1964 in San Mateo, California. John E. McNabb, born Feb 27, 1908, dying January 25, 1965 in Glenn, California. In 1930 he was in Jerome, Arizona, single, working in a copper mine, inliving in the Little Daisy Hotel. He's buried in Glenn County, California # 98247145.
The 1900 Census Plattsmouth City, Cass Co., Nebr. shows that Miranda (listed as Melinda J.) Sivey had 6 children, 4 living at that time. I have Eli Sivey on the 1860 Census Claibourne Twp., Union Co., OH with his parents Levi and Mary (Sisco) Sivey. 1870 Census Alto Twp., Lee Co., Illinois, P. O. Rochelle- Eli Siry [sic] age 19, b. Ohio; Miranda Cisco [sic] age 18, b. Ohio, living with Jame Smith, age 38, b. OH! and wife Martha, age 37, b. N. J, (nee- Cooper; and their 5 children. 1880 Census Turkey Creek Twp.,Pawnee County, Nebr. as Edward Sivey, 29; Anna J.[sic Miranda J.], wife age 27, children Louisa W., 7, b. IL; Louis A., 1, b. NE.; In 1885 Johnson County, Nebraska, Eli is a brickmaker, 35, Miranda 33, Lillie 12, Alva 6, and Frank 1. On the same page is W.W. (Warren), a vet surgeon, 29, with Mary 26, Elmer 5 and Walter 4. 1900 Census Plattsmouth City, Cass Co., Nebr. Ely C. Sivey [sic] b. Dec 1851; Melinda J. [sic], b. Sivey,age 56Y, b. OH, parents born Ohio, son-Alvien [sic- Alva] age 32Y, b.Nebr. 1920 Census Fleming Pct. Logan Co., Colorado Eli E. Sivey, b. 1851, age 69Y,b. OH Miranda J. Sivey, age 66Y, b. ca 1854, Ohio; son Alva A.,age 40Y, single , b. ca 1880,Nebr; granddau. Goldie Sivey, age 16Y, b. ca 1904, Nebr.; grandson, Franklin E. Sivey, age 14Y, b. ca 1906, Nebr; granddau. Helen J. Sivey, age 12, b.ca 1908, Nebr. [These grandchildren were children of Franklin Sivey and Pearl Grindle] Forgot the 1915 Census South Dakota [doesn't show where on print out] Miranda Sivey, age 61, b. ca 1854, Ohio; married 1870; in state 15 Y. arr. 1900 [www.familysearch.org] with her is son Alive [sic Alva] Sivey, age 36, b.1879, Nebraska; single; in state 15 Y, arr. 1900." Helen Opal Anderson, born July 3, 1907 in Nebraska, died in Shasta County, Califoronia Sept 7, 1995, father Sivey, mother Grindle. She's buried in Redding, California # 93506755. Probably the Robley E. Morris 1929-2001 buried there # 33078861 is her son. Helen Opal Sivey, daughter of Fancis Williams Sivey and Pearl Grindle, had married Joseph Morris July 11, 1926 in Sioux City. September 18, 1924 "Warrants charging murder have been sworn out against Mrs. May Hatcher, 51 years old, and her son, Rowland, 18. The couple was arrested and lodged in the county jail here after Deputy Sheriff Miles Mitchell, in response to a telephone call from a neighbor, went to the Sivey ranch twenty miles from here, and found Eli Edward Sivey, 72, father of Mrs. Hatcher, lying dead in the barnyard with a rifle bullet hole through his neck, according to a statement by Sheriff Kay R. Powell of Logan county. Mrs. Hatcher admitted that she fired the shot which killed her aged father, the sheriff stated, but the woman declared that the shooting was accidental. " Miranda, widow of Eli E. Sivey, claimed land in 1927 in section 12, 9N, 50W, Logan County, Colorado. Goldie Frances Sivey, 16, married Joseph Edgar Stout in Sterling July 29, 1920. In 1930 Logan County, Miranda J. is widowed, 78, born in Ohio, with Alvin 49 born in Nebraska. In 1940 Miranda is living on North 7th in Sterling, 87, widowed, with Alvis O. 61 Nebraska, single, and son Frank W. 56 Nebraska, a painter, questionable marital status. Per # 141655808, Miranda was buried in Sterling July 3, 1940 "Widow of Eli Edward Sivey, and daughter of Peter Fransisco/Sisco and Hannah Noe. Burial date for Miranda: July 3, 1940. " Frank 1884-1947 is buried in Sterling # 55609647. So is Louis Alva Sivey 1879-1957 # 141655705. 1949 Malvern Iowa "Those attending the Grindle family picnic at Glenwood Lake Park Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. Guy Grindle, and Curt, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Grindle and Deanna, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Grindle and son, Mr. and Mrs. Guy D. Grindle and family of Red Oak, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Grindle and family, Malvcrn. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sivey, Grand River, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stout and family, Mrs. Gwem n Johansen and family and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith all of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith of Malvern." Goldie Frances Sivey Stout 1904-2005 is buried in Omaha, # 145792072. "She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; children: Marjorie, Walter and Gwen Johansen; 3 brothers and one sister. Left with memories are two sisters: Lola Kinsley and Juanita Hart; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Lois Smith; grandchildren and spouses: Woody and Betty Johansen, Gary Johansen, Robert and Anne Johansen, Merrilee and Tom Ourada, Mike and Eliane Johansen, Craig Johansen, Steve and Deb Johansen, Margie and Steve Martens, David and Sandie Stout, Nancy Brannon; 31 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives. " Joseph Stout 1900-1975 is also buried in Omaha "When he signed up for the WWI draft, the examiner described him as being of medium height, stout in build as well as name, with blue eyes and "light" hair. At that time (Sept. 12, 1918) he was single, and farming in Fleming township, Logan County, Colorado with his father, James Stout. He had been born in Missouri to James and Lavinnia Stout. " 1962 Malvern, Iowa "Weekend house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Grindle were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sivey and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stout all of Omaha. They, with their hosts attended the Grindle family picnic Sunday at the Gun Club at Malvern. Relatives came from Sidney, Tabor, Malvern, Hastings and Glenwood, Pacific Junction, Weeping Water, Nebr. and Nebraska City." |
