He was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Vernon, Texas. He and Helen Tinkham were married June 28, 1928, in Colorado. She died Aug. 19, 1962. He and Mary Ellen Kreiger were married June 20, 1963, in Colorado. She died March 24, 1989

"Gustav Potthoff was born October 22, 1908 in Giesselhorst, Oldenburg, Germany; died October 4, 1971 in Adams County, Colorado in a construction accident, building a 7-11 store at 92 Ave and Pecos by an earth mover. Buried at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton, Colorado. He was baptized in the Eva. Lutheran Church in Germany. He married Sarah Margarete Krieger on December 26, 1937 at Colby, Kansas. They had six children: Justine Elaine, Ronald Lee, Ora Mae, Estal Ann, Larry Gene, Loren Jay. "
