Historical Facts about Phillips County
Phillips County was formed from the south-eastern part of Logan County, March 27, 1889.It was named in honor of R. O. Phillips, who was Secretary of the land company which laid out a number of the towns in eastern Colorado.
Holyoke was incorporated in 1888, and was made the county seat at an election held in November 1889.
Haxtun was incorporated in 1909.
