Funeral services will be held at the Haxtun Methodist church Friday morning, June 29, at 10:00 o'clock for Mrs. Gaylord (Elva) McConnell.


Burial will be in the Haxtun cemetery with the Thompson Mortuary of Haxtun in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. McConnell was born in Davis County, Indiana, a daughter of Leslie and Dorcas Cornett. She moved to Bellville, Kansas as a small girl with her family. She attended school there. The family moved to the Haxtun community in 1916 and she was married to Gaylord McConnell March 16, 1921. They made their home northeast of Haxtun on a farm since that time.


She was a member of the Methodist church at Haxtun, a member of the Mother's club, Senior Citizens club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a past president of the Legion Auxiliary

at Haxtun.


Surviving her are: her husband, Gaylord McConnell; two sons, Everett McConnell of Haxtun, Harold McConnell of Haxtun and a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Pauline) Koberstein, of Holyoke; three sisters, Pearl Wells and Thelma Abbott, both of Riverside, California, Elsa Hohn of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, George Critchlow of Riverside, California and Vern Critchlow of San Jose, California, eight grandchildren, Virginia, Lee, Bob, Marsha, Rick, Larry, Sharon and Karolyn, and one great grandchild, Dawn.


She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Cecil, Arthur and Jack.
