Meeker resident, Glenn E. Burley, died on Monday August 17, 2015 at the Walbridge Wing in Meeker, Colo. He was 89. Military honors were presented by VFW Post 4265 and American Legion Post 62 at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Craig Cemetery.
Glenn E. Burley was born the son of Warren Leslie and Minnie Bell (Johnson) Burley on 8 Oct 1925 in Akron, Colo. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Akron.
During World War II, Glenn honorably served his country with the U.S. Army. He participated in the Normandy landing and the Battle of the Bulge.
On 25 Sep 1947 Glenn married, Edrie E. Baker in Yuma, Colo. To this union three sons were born. The couple resided in Denver for many years before settling and retiring in Meeker in the 1980s. During retirement, Glen and Edrie enjoyed spending their winters in Phoenix. They celebrated their 67th anniversary last fall.
During his years of employment Glenn was a sheet metal worker and member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 9. He enjoyed hunting, fishing up river in Meeker, golfing, playing horseshoes, and going dancing. He was an active member of VFW Post 9644. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Edrie Burley of Meeker; three sons and their wives all of Craig, Colo: Glenn Jr, wife Cheryl; Jeffery, wife Jane; and Bart, wife Patricia; four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, and one sister.
