Harry H. Castrup
Harry H. Castrup, 86, life resident of Washington and Morgan Counties, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 while surrounded by his family at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born May 18, 1928, in Otis, to Robert & Augusta Castrup.
Harry graduated from the Lone Star School in 1946. On October 1, 1951, he enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged on May 20, 1953. He spent 14 months in Korea and was wounded while serving there. He received a Purple Heard for his injuries. He was a life member of VFQ #3551.
Harry married Darlene Neal on June 28, 1953 in Otis, Colo. He later married Patsy Watson on May 9, 1986 in Bruch, Colo.
Harry worked as a gasfitter serviceman for Public Service Company of Colorado for over 30 years. After retiring he worked at the Brush Car Wash. Harry served on the Brush Fire Dept. for 20 years the first of three Castrup generations to do so. He belonged to the Morgan County Moose Lodge. An avid bowler, Harry was inducted into the Brush Bowling Hall of Fame in 1997. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served as a director for the Eash Morgan County Hospital District for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Brush; children, Roger and his wife Marisa, Larry and his wife Jackie, Mike and his wife Ann, Cheryl Meza and her husband Randy all of Brush; Dale Null of Loveland, Colo., and Connie Gonzalez of San Antonio, Tex; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, stepchildren Donna Scott, Lester Null Jr, and Danny Null, and a step great granddaughter, Samantha Scott.
Funeral services will be Monday, Dec 8, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush. Interment with military honors by the US Army and VFW/American Legion will follow at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush.
