lost her courageous battle with cancer on May 21, 2008,
after sharing her beautiful spirit with us for 86 years.
Dorris was born July 30, 1921, in Wray, CO,
to Clayton E. Gilmore and Flossy Mae Smith.
Her love of art carried her through all walks of life,
including the study of painting and sculpture at various California
art schools, and maintaining her own beauty salon in La Jolla, CA.
In March, 1976, she met and married Charles B. Stark, and the couple
soon made their home in Cottage Grove, OR. There, Dorris gave her
amazing creative talents to The Cottage Theater, where her set building,
designing, make-up, special costume effects and appearances on stages,
delighted Cottage Grove audiences of all ages for almost 20 years.
Dorris was an active member of the Senior Volunteer Community in
her later years, and was a well-loved presence everywhere she went.
