Wilson T. and Jane E. Corwin

, 3 North 44 West
Wilson Corwin is the son of Richard Corwin and Sarah McCarty Corwin. He was born 23 Dec 1833 and married Phoebe Pearce on 02 Apr 1857.

Wilson filed for an invalid pension on June 8, 1880 for service in L, 5th Illinois Vavalry.

In 1900 Yuma County, Wilson is farming, born Dec 1833 in married 27 years to Jane E. April 1863, both Illinois. Otto L. Januar 1882 was also born in Illinois.

February 2, 1901

1908 Wray " Otto Corwin was down from Denver Tuesday ."

September 1908 "Vesta Simonton came home last Friday evening from Denver where she had been visiting her uncle Ott Corwin and wife for the past ten days."

February 1908 Wray "Mrs. Harry Boyes was in the city a day or two ago consulting a doctor in regard to a bite which she received from a strange cat, which attacked her recently. When she went to feed her own pets, this one bit her on the hand, taking out quite a chunk. Later the same cat got into J. J. Corwin 's hen house and attacked Mrs. Corwin when she started into the chicken house and bit her severely on the arm. The cat was afterwards killed by Mr. Corwln and was found to be quite a large animal. Mrs. Corwin is having some trouble with her arm, it being feared that blood poison would set in."

June 26, 1903 " Born to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Corwin on Tuesday night June 23d a baby girl. Mother and daughter doing well."

June 20, 1912 "Mrs. Jane Corwin is spending this week on her claim eighteen miles north and is visiting her daughter, Mrs. L. L. Corwin, and family."

July 11, 1912 "Our reporter failed to hear of an interesting event which occurred Tuesday of last week at the S. S. Cottingham home in West Wray. It being Mr. Cottingham's seventieth birthday, his son, Ed Cottingham and family of McCook, Nebraska, and his daughter, Mrs. O. L. Corwin and family of this place and Mrs. Jane Corwin also of Wray were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cottingham throughout the day. A regular birthday dinner was served and an enjoyable day spent. Mr. Cottingham is in fairly good health and his host of friends wish for him many more happy anniversaries of his birth."

May 16, 1918 "Mrs. E. Price of California, arrived in Wray the first of the week and is visiting at the home of Aunt Jane Corwin. Mrs. Price, who formerly resided here, expects to soon go out to Kirk, where she will visit her son, Walt DaVore and family, for a few weeks before returning to her California home."

August 29, 1912 "Mr. and Mrs. Ott Corwin and two little daughters spent a portion of this week in McCook, Nebraska, having left Wray Saturday evening. They are visiting Mrs. Corwin's brother, Ed Cottingham and family."

August 28, 1919
January 27, 1916 "Mrs. Warren Morris and baby daughter, June Elizabeth, arrived Friday and are visiting Mrs. Morris grandmother, Mrs. Jane Corwin, of Wray, and her mother, Mrs. Lew Corwin, and family, of several miles north. Mrs. Morris is from Omaha, Neb., and will probably remain for a two or three weeks visit here."

Wilson and Jane proved up 320 acres in section 6, 3 North 44 West, in 1916.

Jane's witnesses in 1913 were Mary Maxwell, John P. Norman, Thomas Smith, and Otto L. Corwin, all of Wray.

Nancy Wilkins proved up 320 acres in sections 4 and 9, 3 North 44 West, in 1923. Her witnesses were Frank A. Brown, William A. Cox, Lewis L. Corwin, and Hiram Cumley, all of Wray.

In 1930 Whittier, California, Jane is widowed, living with daughter-in-law Nora Corwin 60, both widowed. Edward 56 is also with them.


"Leslie" L. Corwin married Nora "Simenton" on May 30, 1900 in Yuma County.

In 1900 Yuma County Louis born Nov 1859 in Indiana, with Nora March 1868 Illinois, with her daughter Vesta Sin=monton July 1892 Illinois.

In 1910 Yuma County, Lewis L. Corwin is farming, 50, with Nora 40 (her second marriage). Wilsont T. is 9, Edward L. 6, Arthur P. 4, and Nellie 2. Vesta E. Simonton 16 is with them, born in Illionos.

Nora is buried in Whittier 1870-1942 # 29133687, with Lewis Lesley Corwin 1859-1928 # 29133686.

Edward Corwin, dying Sept 3, 1953 is also buried there # 159692637.
