Because the northernmost townships of Yuma County are closer to Holyoke than to Yuma or Wray, the Holyoke newspaper had many mentions of the settlers.

Louisa Jane Murray, in sections 8 and 17 of 5N 46W - claimed in 1891
George Collins claimed two quarters, in sections 21 and 22, also in 1891
|Richard H. Wilson claimed a quarter in section 5 for cash, also
John Morrow claimed a quarter, also in section 5, in 1890.
Albert Turney had a quarter homestead in Section 7 in 1895, a cash claim in section 6 in 1890, and a "tree claim" in section 29 in 1895.
Charles Varney had a claim in this township, and an Alice Varney had on across the line in Phillips County.
