Yuma County Pioneer Photographs:

Because the northernmost townships of Yuma County are closer to Holyoke than to Yuma or Wray, the Holyoke newspaper had many mentions of the settlers.

"Murraysville" might be a light reference to William C. and Louisa Jane Murray, in sections 8 and 17 of 5N 46W - claimed in 1891

 

 

George Collins claimed two quarters, in sections 21 and 22, also in 1891

Richard H. Wilson claimed a quarter in section 5 for cash, also in 1891.

John Morrow claimed a quarter, also in section 5, in 1890.

Albert Turney had a quarter homestead in Section 7 in 1895, a cash claim in section 6 in 1890, and a "tree claim" in section 29 in 1895.

Charles Varney had a claim in this township, and an Alice Varney had on across the line in Phillips County.

William Granville. and Charles Logsdon had claims in the township south - 4N 46W. -

Hans Johnson's claim was a couple of miles southeast of the Murray's
