Mack proved up a quarter in 33, 4N 46 W in 1899, witnesses John A. Conley, Goggin H. Hatcher, Lester D. Castle, and William A. McNichols (all well-known).

Mack J. Leonard filed for a Timber claim in 9N 43W - that would be in Phillips County, east of Holyoke. But BLM records show that as a MARK J. Leonard. Mark J. Leonard also proved up a quarter in 9N 43W in 1893.
Mark J. Leonard, age 34, married Jennie E. Smith, age 28, February 5, 1891 in Sedgwick County, performed by minister W.S. Hampton of Grant, Nebraska.

"Mark" could not have filed legally for a second quarter, so they are likely two different people.

November 3, 1899 "O.L. Hamsher, James Sheedy, and Leonard Smith attended the Mack Leonard sale Wednesday."

"James Sheedy purchased 6 head of cows at Mack Leonard's sale Wednesday."

Mack was paid $10.50 for three days as a juror in 1899, so he was a citizen.
