They're farming in Carroll County, Missouri in 1910, James 46, Alta 40, Albert 19, Vern 15, Earl 13, and Ruth 12.

Vern James Ballard registered for WWI in Codell, Kansas, born June 22, 1894 in Chicago, farming for M.R. Breyler of Codell.

James, Alta, and Vern are in Yuma County, Eckley precinct in 1920. (but they didn't own land in the 1920 atlas)
James 1864-1936 is buried in Ray County, Missouri # 15381532, with Alta 1869-1951 buried in Eckley # 52879512.
His death certificate says James Henry Ballard was born Sept 3, 1864 at Beaucoup Illinois to John Russell Ballard and Docia D. Jolly. He was an oil station attendant. Vern Ballard of Eakly Colorado was the informant.

Also December 13 "Mrs. Wilma Steinmiller of Los Angeles, California arrived for a visit with her mother, Mrs. John Tuell, sister Mrs. Vern Ballard and family, and borhter Bill, Harry and Marvin and families.

In 1930 Yuma County, Vern is married - eight years ago - to Ethel D. 23 born in Kansas. They have Harold D. 7 Colorado.

In 1940 they're living in Eckley, where Vern is a mail carrier, with Harold 17 and Betty J. 6

July 13, 1944 "Mr. and Mrs. Vern Ballard and Betty Jo returned home Sunday from a week's vacation during which they visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barr at their new location north of Loveland and did a little fishing. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Art Cain, Mrs. Alta Ballard and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Brown in Denver."

Earl G. Ballard of Yuma Colorado married Lola Belew of Dent County, Missouri, in July 1918 in Kansas City.
Lola I. Belew, born Aug 19, 1899 in Dent County, Missouri, died Jan 1993 as Robertus, buried in Kansas City, # 101260826.

In 1920 El Dorado, Kansas, Earl is a blacksmith helper, married but no spouse, 23 born in Illinois.
Lola is a restaurant waitress in Kansas City, 20, born in Missouri, married but no spouse, a lodger in a big rooming house.

In 1922 Denver, Earl is driving for Montgomery Ward, living at 211 W. 14th, married to Vera.

In 1927 Denver, Earl G (Vera N) is a driver for Montgomery Ward - and they live at 2220 Arkansas.

Earl Ballard married Fay Courm July 16, 1938, recorded in Otero County. The marriage took place at "Palmer, Lake, Colo" which could be Palmer Lake near Denver or actually in Lake County. The ceremony was performed by Norman E. Young, a minister of Denver.

In 1940 Denver, Earl 43 is a taxi driver, 43, married to Fay 48 Iowa, a hotel proprietor. They're living in the Yale Hotel.
In 1951 Denver, Earl G.(Faye H) live at 4650 Grove.

Earl G. Ballard, 33 born in Illinois is in Los Angeles in 1930, a craneman in a shipyard, married to Vera M. 27 born in Colorado. Norma is 9 born in Colorado.
