James and Viola Stevens

In 1880 Rollo County, Missouri are James W. and Viola B. Stevens, farming, with an infant son.

Ancestry thinks she was the Viola Poplin in 1870 Wayne County Iowa with Robert and Jerusha Poplin.

Jesse Conway Stevens was born 28 FEB 1879 in Shenandoah, Page County, Iowa and died 25 NOV 1949 in Colorado Springs, Colorado (burial Eckley) He was married on July 5, 1899 in Wray, Colorado to Nettie Wakefield b: 5 MAR 1883 in Leon, Decatur County, Iowa. One known child, Lenora Stevens

1901 Yuma "The masquerade ball held on the evening of Washington's birthday was a great success.  A good crownd was present, among them being visitors from Wray, Eckley, Burdette, Hyde and Vernon.  Stevens brothers of Vernon furnished the music.  After thoroughly enjoying themselves the party broke up in the early morning."

October 1906 "Emmett Sechrist of Vernon, has sold his mercantile business, Jesse Stevens and A.J. Wakefield being the purchasers.  The Gazette has not learned Mr. Sechrist's future intentions."

February 1907 Vernon Doings - "Wakefield & Stevens' new store is well under way."

1909 "Last Wednesday, the wind blew the front off of Wakefield & Stevens' store."

October 1909 they sold the general merchandise store to Charles Weaver.

FindAGrave has Nettie Wakefield Stevens - March 5, 1883 - May 1980 - in Glendale Cemetery, and also a spouse of Clover M. Stevens - 1879 -unknown.  The stone has Jesse and Clover

In 1900 Glendale, (then Arapahoe County) James W.  - December 1853 in Ohio - and Viola B.-- born September 1860 in Iowa- have Wilburn E. Stevens, born in Missouri August 1885,Robert E - April 1889 in Colorado - and Lillie F - December 1891 in Colorado.  James is a stock grower.

July 1908

Wilber ran for county treasurer in 1910.

Lillian Fay Stevens - December 26, 1891 - January 14, 1913 - is buried in the Eckley cemetery.

  Ora Wilburn Stevens registered for WWI, saying he was born August 25, 1881, and was a banker.  Nearest relative was Josephine Ina Stevens.

Robert Eli Stevens' registration, also Vernon, said he was born April 12, 1889, and had a wife and child.

James W. Stevens 1853-1916 and Viola B. 1860-1947 are in the Eckley Cemetery

In 1920 Eckley Viola, 59, is widowed.

In 1940 Vernon Viola is widowed, living with "Wilber" 54 and his wife Edna 36.

Others in the household are James Stevens 10 , Joe B. 3, then Nadine Stevens 20.  Viola and boarder Olga Hollars 21, a teacher  (she might be the Olga Beatrice Hollars in Boulder's Green Mountain Cemetery - death April 16, 1950. In 1946 Boulder an Olga B Hollars is living with Rev Andrew W. and Zona M. Hollars.  He's a field representative for Presbyterian churches.  The Kentucky birth index has an Olga B. Hollars born April 29, 1918 in Wayne County, with mother Zona Sloan)
