In 1870 Will County, Alvira Johnson is 33, born in New York, with William 11 and Helen 8, both born in Illinois.

In 1900 Yuma County, Fayette Lamphere's family is next to Georgia Powell July 1856 Illinois, married 24 years but no spouse.
Fayette's half-brother William F. Johnson born Nov 1858 in Illinois is with them.
November 9, 1900

August 1, 1902 "One by one the bachelors of Yuma are taking to themselves wives and becoming good and true citizens of a great republic. The last to join the benedict is W. F. Johnson, the genial ranchman, known to everybody in Yuma county and who lives eight miles north east of Yuma. The event took place last Sunday afternoon at the home of Sheriff Lamphere. Those present besides the family were: Mrs. Luna Herold, Mrs. G. Powell and son, Robert. Rev. Cameron pronounced the words which united the happy couple.
The bride, Miss Gretchcn Kuehne, is a recent arrival in Eastern Colorado, having spent most of her life in the east. She is a charming young lady and already has a large circle of friends.
After the ceremony, the table which had been prepared by Mrs. Lamphere was looked after and some of the good things disappeared, as is usual, when Mrs. Lamphere cooks.
We are glad, all of us, that Bill is married to such a fine little wife. We wish him all the luck we can, and extend him the congratulations of the whole county."

December 1902 "Born: On Thursday morning, December 11, to Mr. and Mrs. William F. Johnson, a boy baby. Bill says he is going to make a ball player out of him."

December 1904
William F. Johnson is in Yuma County in 1910, 52, with Gretchen 28 Germany. Franklin F. is 7, Charles R. 5, William H. 4,a nd Mary H. 2, all four born in Colorado.

In 1920 Wm. is 61, Gretchen 38, Franklin F. 17, Charles R. 15, Wm. H. 14, Mary H. 12, Thelma F. 5, Ruth C. 4, and Anna M. 2.

May 1926 "Mrs. Johnson recently moved out to the home of her daughter Mrs. Hall. She had been caring for Mrs. Bates for some time past."


February 6, 1930

William F. Johnson dying 1930 is buried in Yuma # 50842405.

July 1961 "Mr. and Mrs. Millard Pletcher and girls entertained Mrs. Gretchen Johnson of Yuma and Charlotte Kuehne of Chicago at supper Wednesday evening. Charlotte Kuehne is a sister of Mrs. Johnson and an aunt of Mrs. Pletcher.'

1958 Yuma


March 1930 "Franklin Johnson, dairy tester for El Paso and Elbert counties, has been appointed county agent for Conejos county by the county commissioners to succeed R. E. Kiely, who resigned to accept a similar position in Boulder county. His appointment is subject to the approval of the state board of agriculture."

In 1930 Franklin is single, the county agent in Conejos County, Colorado, boarding with the Manuel J. Martinez family.

February 1933

In 1940 Franklin is in Greeley County, Nebraska, no occupation, 37, married to Thelma 34 born in Iowa. They have Farnklin Bing Johnson, 5 and David Mentor Johnson 3, both born in Colorado. They're living with Thelma's mother Edna M. Bing, 67 widowed, born in Quebec, Canada.
They had been in Colorado Springs in 1935.

Thelma Edna Bing was born Feb 22, 1906 at Walker, Linn County, Iowa to George M. Bing and Edna Matilda Patrick.

1950 Douglas County, Colorado "Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Johnson and boys visited in the Chas. Kirk home Sunday afternoon on their way home from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs."

In 1955 Franklin was living in Hayden, Colorado and slipped in a shower, cutting his eye.

1958 Yuma

August 1963 "Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Beckman of Los Angeles came Thursday to visit in the Franklin Johnson home. Mr. Franklin Jonnson's sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. Benny Elscher and daughter Laurel of Clatonia, Neb., also visited in the Johnson home last week."

March 1966 Hayden "Dr. Bing Johnson and Mrs. Adina Beckman left Sunday for their homes after being here since the accident of the boy's father, Franklin Johnson. Mrs. Beckman is a sister of Mrs. Johnsons."

August 1966 "Miss Charlotte Kuehne of Chicago, Illinois, visited last week at the home of her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Johnson."

November 1970 "David Johnson returned to Los Angeles, Saturday, after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Johnson for a couple of weeks."
" Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pletcher of Yuma, Colorado are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Johnson. Mr. Pletcher is a nephew of Mr. Johnsons."

1973 "Franklin Johnson is attending his H.S. class reunion at Yuma, Colorado, this weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Johnson are enjoying a visit from her sister, Mrs. Ralph Beckman of Laguna Hills, Calif, and her brother Dr. Kenneth Bing and his wife of Los Angeles, Calif."

1975 "Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bing returned home Sunday to Laguna Hills, Calif. They have been visiting his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Johnson."

December 1972 Deadwood, S.D. "Ralph G. Beckman, a former area resident, died Thursday in his home in Laguna Hills, Calif., according to word received by friends in Deadwood. Last rites will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Moulton Park, Laguna Hills.
Beckman was born in Terraville to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beckman. He attended Lead schools, worked for several years for the Homestake Mining Company, Lead and moved to California in the 1920's. He was married to the former Adine Bing, a teacher in the Lead schools. Beckman was a member of the UMC, the Masonic Bodies and Naja ztemple Shrine. Survivors include his widow and several cousins in the Black Hills area. The family home address is: Mrs. Ralph Beckman. 84 B Callearagon, Laguna Hills, Calif., 92653. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hugo, Albert and Herbert, two sisters, Esther Beckman and Elsie Beckman Ball."

April 19, 1975 "Word of the death of Mrs. Ralph G. Beckman on April was received in Deadwood. She died at her home in Laguna Hills, California. Mrs. Beckman is the former Adine Bing, who taught in the Lead school system. She married Beckman in Los Angeles in 1929. Beckman was born in Terraville and attended Lead schools. He preceded her in death in 1973. Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Bing, Laguna Hills, and a sister, Thelma Johnson, Craig, Colo., and two nephews. Funeral services were held in Laguna Hills."

1976 "Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Johnson enjoyed a visit last week from his niece Jean Pletcher and her friend Thelma Wise."


June 1985

Thelma died January 26, 1997 in Orange County, California.
Her father, Rev. George Mentor Bing, 1870-1940 is buried in Greeley County, Nebraska # 60835115. The survivors include his wife and the three children: Mrs. Adine Bechman, Los Angeles, Calif., Kenneth L. Bing, Columbia, Mo; Mrs. Thelma Johnson, Wolbach; his aged mother, Pomeroy, Ohio; a brother, Alfred Bing, Waterloo, Ia; four grand children, George K. Bing, Robert K. Bing, Franklin B. Johnson and Davis M. Johnson. "

Edna M. (Patrick) Bing 1873-1953 is also buried in Greeley County # 60835093.

March 14, 1957 Hayden, Colorado "Bing Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Johnson, is listed on the dean's honor roll of straight A average in last fall's quarter at Colorado A & M. Mr. Johnson is a senior, majoring in bacteriology, and is among 40 students to achieve this distinction."

"F. Bing Johnson, M.D. died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, following a brief illness. Bing was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on November 23, 1934 to Franklin and Thelma Johnson. He spent his early years in the Durango, Colorado area, attending area public schools. In 1953, he entered Colorado State University from which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in bacteriology. In 1961, he graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine at Denver, Colorado. He interned at the University of Mississippi Medical Center at Jackson, Mississippi, where he received the Outstanding Intern Award. Dr. Johnson, in 1963, entered the residency program in General Radiology at Colorado General Hospital, University of Colorado, becoming Chief Resident in 1964. After completing his residency and two years as a Radiologist at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Johnson rejoined the University of Colorado School of Medicine as Chief of the Division of Radiation Oncology and Associate Professor of Radiology.
He served in that position until his retirement from the University in 1986. Dr. Johnson then started a practice of Radiation Oncology at St. Mary's Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado, where he served until his death.

Bing is survived by his brother, David Johnson of California; his step children, David, Larry and Emily Keith of Mississippi and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose W. Keith Johnson and his parents. Bing was a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, Associate Professor Emeritus of Radiology, recipient of the Joseph Addison Sewall Award from the University of Colorado, member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Phi Kappa Phi. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having obtained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was the Orator/Historian of Mesa Lodge #55 and member of Hayden Lodge. By his own account, he was a pretty good horse wrangler in his younger years.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010 in the Chapel of St. Mary's Hospital at Grand Junction, Colorado. The family prefers memorials to your favorite charity."


William Harrison Johnson 1906-1996 is buried in Concordia, Kansas # 11929484, with Hazel Loetta (Mansfield) Johnson 1905-1994, # 11929465.

April 1994 RUTH


Earl Saunders and Mary Johnson married in Yuma County on January 19, 1928.
Earl was in in Payne County, Oklahoma in 1900, with William and Ellen Jerusha Saunders.

Ellen J. 1848-1918 is buried in Stroud, Oklahoma # 25727928, with Wm. H. 1834-1905 # 25724922.

"Thelma Frances Pletcher was born on September 9, 1914 to William F. and Gretchen (Kuehne) Johnson at their home northeast of Yuma. Her siblings were Franklin, Charles, William, Mary, Ruth and Ann.
Thelma married Millard Pletcher on February 16, 1936 and they made their home South of Schramm. Thelma was the loving mother of four children: Paul and wife, Sharri of Yuma, Colorado; Gary and wife, Donna of Greeley, Colorado; Sharon and husband, Larry Hilbert of Wray, Colorado and Jeanne Pletcher of Denver, Colorado. Thelma was a caring, nurturing and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord, enjoyed Bible Studies and church was an important part of her life.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Millard; her parents; all of her siblings along with four brother-in-laws and five sisters-in-laws.
The funeral service was held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Dave McQuisten and Pastor Jeff Meeker officiating. Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery in Yuma, Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service."


1928 "Earl Saunders and familly arrived recently from Bolckow, Missouri, and are located on the H.M. Hancock farm, som seven miles southwest of Yuma."

Mary and Earl Saunders are in Andrew County, Missouri in 1930. He's a farm laborer.


August 10, 1939

In 1940 Fort Morgan, Colorado, Earl B. Saunders is 55, Missouri, Mary 32, Joan 6 Missouri, Ruth 3, and Kathleen 1, both born in Colorado.

1962 "Mrs. Marion Nystrom of Denver spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Gretchen Johnson."

1986 "Mary Nystrom of Green Forest Arkansa visited last week at the Millard Pletcher home. On Saturday her daughters, Irma Guthrie of Green Forest Arkansas, May Hahne and Kathleen Bartels of Denver visited the Pletchers. That evening they all returned to Denver."



March 26, 1992.


Glen Harold Arnold and Blanche Evelyn Stenson had Dwight Glen Arnold in Garfield County, Washington on June 2, 1928.

Glenn Arnold's wife Blanche Stenson Arnold and baby are buried in Yuma, both dying in 1934.

Glen H. Arnold married Annie M. Johnson on July 8, 1935 in Yuma County.

July 18, 1935
In 1940 Glenn is an auto mechanic in Wray, 34, with Anna M. 21. Kenneth 13 and Dwight G. 11 were born in WSashington, Charles W. 4 a Shirley A. 2, and Barbara R. 1 in Colorado.

In 1991 Glenn Arnold was living in Redwood City, California, when his sister Goldia Madsen died. Their paretns were George and Emma Arnold.

Shirley Ann Lakey age 75 of Casa passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock.
She was born May 19, 1937 in Yuma Colorado to the late Glenn & Anne Johnson Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her children & spouses Eddy & Cindy Lowery of Alexander; Timmy Lowery of Alexander; Sandra Lowery & Brent Rainey of Casa; brothers Mickey Arnold of California; Dwight Arnold of Colorado; Kenny Arnold of Colorado; Richard Snyder of California; sisters Gretta Stoner of No. Little Rock; Bonnie Nelson of California; Barbara Crawford of Oregon; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Needmore Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 to 2:00 before service at cemetery. "

"Leasa Lynette Statler, 49, Little Rock, died Monday, July 21, 2014. Born November 16, 1964 in Little Rock. Preceded in death by father, Larry Lee and brother, Glenn Stoner. She is survived by mother, Gretta Stoner; children, Jason, Jessica, and Jessie Herring; sisters, Faith Chudy and Angelica Lee; and several grandchildren.
