Amos H. Mills, daughter Lavina C. Mills

"Amos was born in September of 1818 at Westmoreland, New York to Pelatiah and Almeda E. (Handy) Mills.
He married Catherine in 1854 at Kelso Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. To this union six children were born. "

In 1860 Sibley County, Minnesota, Amos is 51, farming, with Emma age 1.

In 1870 Black Hawk County, Iowa, Amos is 52, farming, with Catherine 39, Lovina 13, Julia 11, and Charles 9 (Julia must be Emma). With them is thos Manahan 53, with John 79, both farming. This must be Catherine's brother and father. Ellen Manahan is 22, Janet 20, Thomas 13, Roxey 9, and Charles 8.

(Julia Mills Cousins 1859-1957 is buried in West Point, Nebraska # 56859559.)

In 1880 Crawford County, Iowa, Amos Mills is 62, farming, with Catherine 49. Lavina is 23, and Charles is 19.

In 1885 Crawford County, Amos is farming, 66, with Catherine 54, and Lovine 26.

Amos and Lavina both proved up quarters in 5, 2N 48W in 1892, about four miles northwest of Yuma.

Amos Mills, in Omaha Nebraska in 1900, born Sept 1818 New York, a carpenter, married to Catherine. Daughter Lavina born Feb 1867 Minnesota. Son Oscar born April 1888 adopted, born in Colorado.


October 1897 Omaha

1909 Florence Nebraska "Oscar Mills, the city's official dog-catcher, shot five dogs the first day out."

Oscar Mills registered for WWI in Florence Nebraska, born April 4, 1887 at Hyde Colorado, a plumber, single, with mother partly dependent.

January 15, 1918 Lincoln "Oscar Mills is one man who will not see military service in the near future. Oscar is a Douglas county youth recently convicted of breaking and entering and sentenced to serve one year in the state prison. He arrived in Lincoln on Tuesday morning."

Buried in Omaha December 31, 1918 is Oscazr Mills, per # \154362505 "Plot: Segment# 12, Lot# SGL, Grave# 2662"

The newspaper says "John R. Tate of Blair, Nebraska and Laura C. Mills of Florence, Nebraska.

FindaGrave # 5197415 has Lavina Mills Hauff buried in Omaha Potters Field 1857-1932.
