Anita - Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anderson of Anita have received word that their son Pfc. Leon Anderson, was missing in action in France as of Nov. 18.

Anita - Pfc. Leon Anderson, listed as missing in action in France Nov. 18, was killed in action on that date, the war department has advised his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anderson, of south-west of Anita.
Pfc. Anderson was born Aug. 13, 1921, at Eckley, Colo., and moved to Anita with his parents when he was about 13 years old. He enter service two years ago and went overseas last July. The last letter received from him by his parents was dated Nov. 4.

Former Eckleyite is Killed in Action in France on Nov. 18
PFC Leon E. Anderson, 24, a former Eckley boy, was killed in action in France on November 18 of last year, it was learned here. The young man was born on August 13, 1920, four miles north of Eckley. He lived there with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anderson, until he was 13 years old, and then the family moved to Anita, Iowa, onto a farm a mile southwest of that place. PFC Anderson attended school in Anita and graduated from high school there. He was serving in the 95th division in the 8th army under General Patton. He entered army service about a year ago and had previously been farming with his father. He is a nephew of Mrs. Roy Jacobs and J.F. Gardner of the Eckley community.

PFC. Leon Anderson, former Eckley boy who was killed in action in France on November 18, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anderson of Antia, Iowa. He was a nephew of Mrs. Roy Jacobs and J.F. Gardner of the Eckley community.
