Woodbury

"Joseph A. Woodbury was one of the original Union Colonists. He come here in the spring of 1870. A contractor, he is credited with building nearly every new public structure in Greeley – including the new school – during those early days. He also built the house he lived in at 1124 7th St.
Woodbury was a council member for several years, Greeley’s first fire chief and served two terms as mayor of Greeley. He lived in the house until he died in 1913."

Joseph next married Rebecca Ann Reese, daughter of Abner Reese and Sarah Terrell, on 12 Jan 1888 in Greeley, Weld, Colorado, USA. Rebecca was born on 17 May 1856 in Cadiz, Henry, Indiana, USA and died on 6 Jul 1922 in Silver City, Grant, New Mexico, USA at age 66.

Rebecca was born to Quaker parents. Her grandfather, Dempsey Reese was one of the first land holders in Henry Co. IN, coming there from NC in 1820. Rebecca went to live in Greeley in the fall or summer of 1887. She died at the home of her son, Joseph Francis, in Silver City NM.
