Mr. Usher came to the vicinity of Longmont about six months ago, was the oldest of four brothers. Has been employed in the wood working department of Geo. Parton's blacksmith shop. He was taken with typhoid fever, and was thought to be recovering, but rheumatism set in with fatal result."

March 1899 "Ben Whiteley will move into the residence occupied by Frank Morlan, who in turn will move into the Tetseli property."

" Frank Morlan has returned home from Lincoln, having bought a car of the finest furniture ever shipped to this section. The M S & K people claim that the bottom will drop out of furniture prices when the new stock arrives."

October 1899 "Miss Elsie Usher, sister of Mrs. F. H. Morlan, went to Longmont this morning to wait on her brother John, who is sick with typhoid fever."

Frank is a dry goods merchant in 1900 Sterling, 32, married three years to Della A. 23.

July 1900 "Joe Sanders and Peter Koenig yesterday divided their cattle purchased jointly of F. M. Jackson and finished branding at noon today. Frank Morlan takes the store building in lieu of his interest in the cattle and the boys are all happy."

February 1908

February 1908 "E. G. Usher, a former resident of Logan county but now of Longmont, is visiting his sisters, Mrs. F. H. Morlan and Miss Elsie Usher, this week."

May 1908 "The Fortnightly Club met with Miss Elsie Usher at the home of her sister, Mrs. Frank Morlan, on last Friday evening. In addition to themselves they entertained their lady and gentlemen friends, the total number present being 28."

June 1908 "A change in Sterling business circles occurred this week, Mrs. L. A. and Miss Mary Munson purchasing Frank Morlan's stock of merchandise and taking possession. They will run a ladies' and children's furnishing store in the future. Sterling offers a good field for such a store, the ladies are well known and will do well at it.
A number of years of unbroken application to business was beginning to tell on Mr. Morlan and he needed a change. We understand that he will seek a lower altitude for awhile until his health is fully restored. But in a year or two we predict he will take his place in the ranks of our business men again."

August 1908 "Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morlan left last week for their new home in the Hood River country, Oregon. Sterling never had and does not desire better citizens than Mr. and Mrs. Morlan. Frank came here when a boy and grew up on his father's homestead. He told us once of how frightened he was, when, after his father's death while he was just in his teens he received a notice that some taxes were due. He said the money to pay them was the hardest money he ever earned. Save for a year or two's work in the mines in the mountains his whole active life has been spent in Sterling.
The many qualities of the highest womanhood and manhood possessed by him and Mrs. Morlan won them the prosperity that was theirs in Sterling.
Mrs. Morlan was just entering womanhood when she came to Sterling and she and Frank met while she was a waitress and he a guest at the Sterling house. Our Mrs. Morlan is an American woman and can act as servant or mistress, with equal facility, in any home.
The best wishes of friends innumerable follow them to their new home. May their prosperity be unlimited."

Frank is a dry goods merchant in Hood River in 1910, 43, with Della A. 32 and Alice M. 5.

April 1919 " Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Morlan and daughter, Miss Alice, of Merino, were over Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Woodard."

June 1919 "Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Morlan and daughter Alice of Merino left Sunday afternoon for Walla Walla, Washington, where they will meet Mr. Morlan. From there they will go to various points in that locality, to look for a business location. Mr. and Mrs. Morlan were formerly residents of Sterling, where they engaged in the mercantile business."

July 1919

Frank, 52, Della 43, and Alice M. 14 are in Walla Walla, Washington in 1920.

In 1930 Frank and Della are alone, still a dry goods merchant.

In 1940 they're in San Bernardino, California (were in Los Angeles in 1935.)

Frank died in Grant County, Washington on June 1, 1955, age 87.

Della died in Bellingham, Washington on December 31, 1959, age 83.

Alice Maxine Morlan and Roy Haddox married in Umatilla, Oregon on May 15, 1928.

Alice Maxine (Morlan) Haddox 1905-1982 is buried in Whatcom County, Washington 3 40176264, with Roy Andrew Haddox 1902-1966.

Emma Morlan and George "Hettston" (HUSTON) married in CHeyenne COunty, Nebraska on October 23, 1890.

Emma is widowed in 1920 Fort Morgan, 49, with Elma 13 and Myrtle Vesta 9.

Emma is farming in 1930 Logan County, 59, with Zelmer 23 and Mertle G. 20.

She's buried in Sterling 1870-1935 # 55664781, with George Clark Huston 1862-1913.

ALVA

October 1907 "E. P. Morlan, living across the river from Atwood, has threshed a field of wheat that averaged 41 bushels to the acre. If you know of a better yield please send us the figures."

January 1908 Atwood "Alva Morlan from across the river has rented his farm and moved to Sterling to clerk in his brother's dry goods and shoe store."

In 1910 Elvy P. 36 and Elsie M. 31 are in Hood River, Oregon.

July 1911 " Mrs. Alvey Morlan returned today from Hood River, Ore. Mr. Morlan will follow later with their household goods and they will again make their home at Atwood, Mr. Morlan having disposed of his business interests In Oregon."

"Alvey Morlan arrived at Merino yesterday with his household goods, which he will unload there and move to his farm, which is located between Atwood and Merino. Mrs. Morlan will go up tomorrow."

In 1920 Elvy is farming at Merino, 46, with Elsie M. 41 and niece Dorinda F. Usher 16 born in Colorado. Dorinda Bhaer, born March 30, 1904 in Estes Park, died December 11, 1991 in Maricopa County, Arizona, daughter of David E. Usher and Rosa Belle McKay, wife of Frederick Sey Jones 1903-1991 and Theodore M. Bhaer 1904-1992.


September 1920 Sterling " Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Morlan of Merino, and Mrs. Morlan's nephew, A. R. Miller of Ida Grove, Iowa, and wife, are attending the fair here today."
