Notes on lines these pages already print.

Welcome to COGenWeb

The front page title is Welcome to COGenWeb Free Colorado Genealogy. The heading under the county list is Welcome to the COGenWeb Project. The same page names a state bird, a row of county options, and a footer date. The note on the seventeen counties stays with the history paragraphs. This note stays with the title, the bird, and the footer.

The title and the top menu

Welcome to COGenWeb Free Colorado Genealogy is the title in the head. Free is capitalised. Genealogy is capitalised. The visible heading later on the page is Welcome to the COGenWeb Project, which does not repeat the word Free.

The top menu lists Home, About COGenWeb, Colorado Archives, Special Projects, COKids, Volunteer, and Contact. Colorado Archives is a list item on that bar. Home points at index-2.html in the county-menu block further down, which is a different control from the top bar.

COKids is written as one word with a capital K. Volunteer and Contact are single words. About COGenWeb uses the project name, not the phrase About Us. About Us appears later, in the site directory, and it points at about.html.

The title and the heading can both be on the front page without being the same sentence. One says Free Colorado Genealogy. The other says the COGenWeb Project. The note on the site directory lists the second menu. The top bar is this shorter row.

Volunteer on that bar has no final s. The directory option later says Volunteers.

The county select

A select control is labelled County List, and its first option is County Sites, with the value #. After that the options name counties: Adams, Alamosa, Arapahoe, and the rest, through Yuma, plus Unknown County.

Some option values are paths on this site, such as adams/ and larimer/. Some are full addresses on other hosts. The note on those addresses lists the ones that leave cogenweb.com. The select itself is one control, with both kinds of value in it.

El Paso is the visible name. The value under it is elpaso/, with no space. LaPlata is written with a capital P in the middle. Kit Carson is two words. Unknown County is an option, not a numbered county in the 1861 list.

The select does not print a population, a hotel, or a mileage. It prints names and addresses. The mileage sentences are in the article below the heading, and they belong to the state paragraph, not to this menu.

Unknown County is an option in the select. It is not one of the seventeen names in the history paragraph.

The state bird

The picture on the front page is the file assets/images/elements/lark_bunting.jpg. The width is 168 and the height is 149. The alt text is State Bird: Lark Bunting.

The sentence beside it reads: Colorado's State Bird is the Lark Bunting. Its common name is the Prairie-Lark Finch. State Bird is capitalised in the sentence. Prairie-Lark Finch has a hyphen and two capitals.

The alt and the sentence both say Lark Bunting. The sentence adds the common name. The alt does not say Prairie-Lark Finch. The file name uses an underscore: lark_bunting.

The bird sentence does not give a date. The footer date is a different line. The bird is not one of the seventeen counties, and it is not a coordinator's name.

The file is a jpeg in assets/images/elements. The alt begins with State Bird, a colon, and Lark Bunting. The width is 168 and the height is 149. The sentence adds Prairie-Lark Finch, which the alt does not say. No year is printed beside the bird.

June 25, 2019, and the copyright line

The footer says This site was updated on June 25, 2019. The month is written in full, then the day, then a comma, then the year. A disclaimer follows, about personal copyright, public domain lists, and tombstone information. The disclaimer says links to external sites are a convenience and are not an endorsement.

The copyright line is © COGenWeb 2011-to present. All rights reserved. The hyphen sits between 2011 and to. There is no space around that hyphen. The next line is Website design by Lady of the Lake Design Studio.

Other pages print other dates and a slightly different studio name. The note on the coordinator lists keeps the contact page's October 23, 2019, and the about page's September 9, 2021, off this footer. This footer is June 25, 2019, and Design Studio.

2011-to present is not a single year of publication. It is the span the line prints. The update date is the June line above it.

Design Studio is three words. The hyphen in 2011-to is part of the copyright line, not part of the June date.

What the front page is for

The resources paragraph tells a reader to start with the Site Directory on the left, or with the page whose link text is Guide to Researching your Ancestors in Colorado. That link goes to research.html. A second sentence asks about adopting a county and links the words Click here for a full list to wishlist.html.

Those two links are invitations. This note does not describe the inside of research.html or wishlist.html. It records the words the front page uses for them.

The project name, the county select, the bird, and the June 25 footer are the frame. The formation paragraphs sit inside that frame and are quoted in the seventeen-counties note. The coordinator names that the front page actually prints are quoted with the other lists.

The note on adoption lines follows the phrase about available counties. The front page asks the question. The county table and the Adams page answer it in their own wording.

research.html is the guide. wishlist.html is the adoption list. The front page prints both addresses and does not summarise either page.
